We have a range of community museums, galleries and historic sites, each offering sessions for visiting schools. You can find out what they offer and see Sessions Plans, Notes for Teachers and Adult Helpers and ideas for Pre- and Post-visit activities by looking at the web pages of individual sites.
To book a visit at one of these sites, please follow these steps
We operate within Hampshire County Council’s rigorous Health and Safety policy. Each site has a Hazard Information Sheet on their school page to help teachers complete risk assessments
Each led session at one of our community museums costs £25 per hour. If you are part of Hampshire Children’s Services you can arrange to be invoiced and pay via Hampshire County Council’s SAP system – please have your organisation unit number ready when you book. Alternatively, cheques can be made payable to Hampshire County Council
The facilities at each community site vary and more information can be found on the school page of each site’s web pages
Pre-visits are recommended and be made during the site’s normal opening hours. If you would like to see resources used during a particular session, please let the site know in advance (depending on the session, resources may be kept in another part of the County)
You are welcome to plan your own visit using our displays. Some sites have resources available for schools to use on self-led visits – please see individual web pages for details and possible costs.
