A Taxishare or Carshare is similar to a bus service only a 'taxi/private hire vehicle' picks passengers up instead of a bus. These services are often put in place when a bus service no longer operates in the area and can be known as either a Taxishare or Carshare.
This differs from service to service. For some taxishares or carshares anyone who lives in a particular village or road can use them and for others passengers need to fit certain criteria to be eligible.
To find out if you are eligible please call the Community Transport Team on 01962 846786.
First of all passengers have to register, this can be done over the telephone.
To register please ring the Community Transport Team on 01962 846786.
All taxishares/ carshares are bookable. This means that to use them you must first book your place in the car. The services will run even if you are the only person in the car. However, they will not run if nobody has booked them. Most services run to a set timetable, just like a bus.
Passengers either get picked up from their home address or their nearest bus stop depending on which Taxishare/ Carshare you use and you will be dropped in a central point.
If you have a Hampshire County Council disabled person's bus pass you can travel free on this service. If you have a Hampshire County Council older person's bus pass you can travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:00. If you have a pass issued by any other English Local Authority you can travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:30. In all cases show your pass to the Taxishare/Carshare driver each time you travel otherwise you will need to pay.
