Your Gypsy Liaison Officer works closely with Gypsy and Traveller groups and will manage your enquiry to a successful conclusion, speaking with the communities concerned and our legal team where necessary or requested, on your behalf.
We offer cost effective support on a project basis, or via our annual retainer where you have the assurance of our service for 12 months.
The Gypsy and Traveller Service also gives advice and guidance to private landowners, including outlining the legal options available.
We can assist you with:
unauthorised encampments – including advice on recommended procedures, negotiation regarding length of stay, and service of notices and court documents
planning application status verification – interviews and documentation checks to verify ethnicity and status
advice on suitable accommodation for Gypsy and Traveller communities, in line with current legislation and regulations, including site acquisition, design, procurement and management
assistance to develop and agree appropriate consultation methods, including community-based interviewing for Gypsy and Traveller communities for the preparation of Accommodation Assessments
staff training centred on a detailed knowledge and understanding of Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople communities and culture, and an appreciation of the clear distinctions between them
