Basing Room, Castle Hill, Winchester, SO23 8UH

We are proud to take part in Winchester Fashion Week with an open event on 21 April 2015 at The Basing Room.

Basing Room

The Basing Room is an elegantly refurbished ceremony room providing a tranquil and serene facility, right in the heart of Winchester. Set against the historic backdrop of the cobbled avenue to the Great Hall, the Basing Room has been sensitively decorated in keeping with the grandeur of this impressive building, boasting period features and a stunning chandelier which has been 'up-cycled' from Old Churcher's College in Petersfield. It accommodates 40 people including the couple, two registrars and two witnesses.

Following your ceremony your exit onto Castle Hill offers an abundance of historic photographic opportunities.

Access
We aim to meet the needs of all our customers but would like to highlight that the steps leading to the building in which the Basing Room is located, might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. A lift is available.

The Avalon Room

Avalon Room

The Avalon Room is an intimate, contemporary room featuring Rennie Mackintosh style seating. This room accommodates 12 people.

Confetti

There are probably other couples using the facilities on the same day, so to keep the ceremony room looking tidy, please ensure that your guests wait until they are outside before they throw confetti. If possible please use bio degradable confetti.

Party poppers and spray string should not be used. Please check with registration staff as some local restrictions apply.

Photographers and Video

Videos can be taken at any point before, during and after the ceremony provided that it does not interrupt the proceedings.

Please inform the registration staff so that the cameraman can be directed to a suitable position. Your guests are welcome to take photographs before and after the ceremony, but the ”official” photographer should speak to registration staff to agree mutually acceptable points at which photographs can be taken during the ceremony.

Our Register Offices in Hampshire welcome everyone and our staff will do all they can to ensure that you enjoy your visit. If you need extra assistance we are happy to help.
