Coach education is provided by England Hockey, who offer a range of coaching courses and qualifications at every level. In addition, information on coaching courses and resources is available from Coaching Hampshire IOW.

Umpiring is an ideal way to become involved and enjoy hockey without playing or coaching. The National Governing Body, England Hockey offer a range of courses and qualifications for every level of umpriring. The Foundation Umpire Award is a good way to learn the basics of umpiring and an excellent stepping stone towards the competitive game. From there, progression is to Level One and upwards.

Hampshire Hockey Umpires Association have put together a useful document, 'First Game Survival Tips'. It has proved to be very useful in the initial training of new umpires, especially for getting past their biggest barrier - that very first attempt with the whistle.
