Kierra Barker came 1st in the U17 Pentathlon at the England Athletics U17 & U15 Indoor Combined Events Championships held in Sheffield.
Emily Jenkinson won the National Schools Biathlon Championships for 7th successive year. She was the Southern U20 Indoor Champion with a new championship best performance in the 800m. She also gained her first U20 England cap at Celtic Cup.
Ira Banerjee competed in the under 17 Nationals held at Redbridge on 16-17 March. Although she is still an under 16, she reached the finals of singles, losing very narrowly - 22-24 in the third game. She played extremely well and went on to win the doubles title, without dropping a single game. She came home with one silver and one gold medal.
Lauren Milligan has had team success at National Under 18 Level. She was part of the Sevenoaks Suns Under 18 Team who won an exciting Sureshot Cup Final at Manchester recently. She then competed in the British Colleges Sport finals in Bath, competing for her East England representative side Oaklands College. Oakland comfortably qualified from their group and became the eventual winners. Off the court Lauren is concentrating on her US College applications to study and play NCAA Div 1 or 2 Basketball for the next few years.
Emily Hewitt and her partner have spent the last two months competing in a series of long distance races which test physical and mental endurance. The four races increase in distance with the first race spanning 13.5 miles and the last 34 miles. To win the series the accumulated time had to be the fastest (each of the race times added together). Emily and her partner came first with a total of 16 hours, 50 minutes and 18 seconds. Emily is currently on a training camp in Dubai for 12 days.
Emily Martin recently travelled to Holland to represent Southampton Diving Academy in the 14th Eindhoven Diving Cup. It was her first International club competition and she was diving against teams from Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria, Norway, Denmark, Belarus, Czech Republic and Egypt. Emily won a silver medal in the girls 12/13 year old platform event.
Edgar Hornby won a gold medal in a Cadet competition in France.
Adam and David Knott are preparing for the European Championships which will be held in Worcester on the 4th - 9th September. This is a huge help for the GB squad in their push for promotion.
Oliver Nail has been selected for England Under 18 team to compete at the Four Nations tournament in Valencia, Spain. The team will be playing against Spain , Holland and Germany.
Danielle Harrison has moved up a category and is now skating at Junior (under 19) level against some older and stiffer competition. So far she has participated in two competitions, coming second in the Southern IJS and first in the Magnum Open.
Sam Potts has recently been awarded "Young Sportsman of the Year 2012" by the Portsmouth Evening News. He also he won the Under 21 Judo English Open.
Ebonnie Bridges won a silver medal in the under 48kg pre-cadet girls category at the Midlands Open -21 years.
Bradley Sutton completed his first International Modern Pentathlon Tri competition in March. He swam a PB in the 200 metres and went into the combined event (shoot /run, shoot/ run, shoot/run) placed 5th. Overall he finished 15th.
Mia Ritchie is one of 12 players selected for the England team to tour Jamaica. The three-match series begins on 2 April and concludes four days later. England are third in the world rankings, one position above Jamaica.
Xanthe Weatherhead won the Hampshire Schools Rowing Championships. She was then asked to represent Hampshire Schools at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships. Xanthe raced 2000m on a rowing machine against other girls in her year group (ages 16/17). Although she was fourth off the start she kept a consistent rhythm and pulled through to first before half way. Cheered on by a member of the Oxford University boat team she went on to win her heat and the overall competition. Afterwards she had the opportunity to meet the Oxford University boat team and was interviewed for a film about London Youth Rowing and NJIRC.
William Wheeler is currently in Austria training for the British Championships which take place in Meribel France.
Kyle Finch has had a busy month, he finished runner up in the National Championships and attended national training. He played for England in the 5 Nations Championships in France, where he won all his matches and helped England to win the Championships. He then went on to win the Winchester Open, playing up an age group in the Under 17s. Kyle has also been selected to play for England in the European Championships in Spain, in May.
Letitia McMullan competed in the 6 Nations Championships for England Cadets winning a team gold and a bronze medal in the individual event.
