Sport Hampshire & IoW

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports Awards

The 2016 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports Awards took place on Thursday 17 March 2016 at Southampton Football Club.

The annual celebration of sport was hosted and run by Hampshire County Council and Sport Hampshire & IOW and is an annual joint venture between them and the Local Sports Councils & Forums in Hampshire. Itis the only county-wide event to publicly reward commitment, performance and excellence across all sports, in coaching, volunteering, participation and performance.

A record number of athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, teams and clubs were put forward to receive an award, over three hundred and twenty nominations. The high number of entries underlines not only the strength in depth of sporting talent in the county, but also the commitment and dedication of the unsung heroes – the coaches, volunteers and officials - who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help local athletes, teams and clubs succeed.

We are pleased to announce that as part of our ambition to raise the profile of the work of Sport Hampshire & Isle of Wight, we will be launching our first charitable fundraising partnership in support of Allegra’s Ambition, helping young people to improve their lives through sport and nature. Allegra’s focus on the impact that taking part in sport has on the lives of young people accords closely with Sport Hampshire & Isle of Wight’s culture, philosophy and vision.
