Solent Transport has submitted a funding bid to the Department for Transport’s low emission bus scheme.
The scheme will provide £30 million nationally between 2016 and 2019 to encourage bus operators to purchase low-emission buses rather than standard diesel buses in order to help improve air quality in our towns and cities. The fund will provide up to 75% of the cost difference between a low-emission bus and its standard diesel equivalent.
Solent Transport has worked closely with the South Hampshire Bus Operators Association to develop a bid that if successful would see a number of low-emission buses running in Southampton, Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Eastleigh and the New Forest.
