The bus corridor between Redlands Lane and Military Road is only the first phase of the BRT scheme.
We aim to create a wider BRT scheme to provide an even greater benefit to the local area, and is currently in the process of completing studies to determine the best way of doing this.
The wider scheme will use a variety of measures: from junction improvements which will allow buses to be given priority treatment at traffic lights, to the creation of specific bus lanes on motorways.
As the map above illustrates, the wider BRT will connect key towns and destinations in South East Hampshire including Gosport, Fareham and Portsmouth, the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Port Solent, Tipner and ultimately Havant, Waterlooville, Segensworth and Whiteley.
The scheme will also be designed to connect with proposed major new development sites including the future North Fareham Strategic Development Area. One recently completed example is the ZIP bus corridor from Clanfield to Portsmouth.
