Fordingbridge circular walk 2
Distance: 3km / 1.75 miles, 40 minutes
Condition: Mainly unsurfaced paths and gravel track
Starting Point: Fordingbridge Junior School (Penny’s Lane)
The railway came to Fordingbridge in 1866 and services stopped 98 years later. Promoted by Salisbury and Dorset Railway Company, it connected Alderbury on the Salisbury to Romsey line with West Moors on the Ringwood to Wimborne line, and thus gave a rail service between Salisbury and Poole.

- Take the footpath which passes the grounds of Fordingbridge Junior School and cross the old railway line. At the first path junction turn left and follow this until reaching Whitsbury Road.
- Turn right and then take next left down Puddleslosh Lane (a bridleway). Continue along this track until reaching a metal kissing gate on your left.
- Proceed through the kissing gate and then through the next metal gate. Continue ahead until reaching a wooden kissing gate. Continue straight along the path until you reach a road, then bear right to Parsonage Park Drive.
- At T-Junction turn left and follow the pavement until you reach Whitsbury Road. Turn left, then immediately right taking care when crossing the road. Continue ahead back to the starting point.
