From the Country Park, the way brushes the outskirts of Havant before turning northwards along Prospect Lane; this is a short section of a Roman road. The way continues on to Rowlands Castle passing a small woodland to the west as you follow the bridleway past the grounds where 12th century motte-and-bailey castle remains can be seen as two grass covered masses of wall about 10 feet thick.
As you come out opposite the village green at Rowlands Castle turn right towards the railway bridge, then cross over to Links Lane where the way continues along the lane past the village green to your left crossing over The Fairway. As the road turns right cross over to the footpath on the left, next to the Golf Club House.
The way crosses the fairways of the golf course, so take care when crossing. At the road turn right and follow the road for 380 yards. Cross the road through the housing estates until you come to Manor Lodge Road (if you miss the path continue up to Kings Close on the left, turn down the close and then take the pathway out on to Manor Lodge Road).
At Manor Lodge Road turn left, continue down to the double roundabout, cross over the road and follow the pathway back to Staunton Country Park for refreshments in the café or enjoy the walled garden grounds.
