At Wessex Film and Sound Archive you can see and hear history, from late Victorian times to the present day, through moving images and sound recordings. The Archive contains over 38,000 film and sound recordings relating to the Wessex region - including Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The collection is incredibly diverse and covers a wide range of mediums – from VHS tapes to traditional 8mm film stock.
Cinefilm relating to the region, to add to our collections of professional, amateur, documentary, research, advertising and newsreel films of local interest, from 1897 onwards.
Sound recordings reflecting life in the area, especially oral history, local radio, gramophone discs and local music tapes, and digital audio files.
