Below are clips from our large collection of films made by Colonel Arthur Bates of Manydown Park in North Hampshire between 1929-1936.

All of the films were shot outdoors to take advantage of natural light using a 16mm camera and featured not just members of his family, but also a fascinating glimpse of local life. There are more films in the collection - AV1153 - which you can learn about via our online catalogue and then either visit us to view in person or order a copy. You can also find out more about Colonel Bates in the AdminHistory section of the catalogue entries.
