We have a large collection of films made by Colonel Arthur Bates of Manydown Park between 1929 and 1936. Manydown Park was a fine estate with a manor house in the north of Hampshire.
Bates shot all of his films outdoors to take advantage of natural light and used a 16mm camera. As well as featuring friends and members of his family, his footage offers a fascinating glimpse of local life in the 1930s.
