Discover Eastleigh’s past, and meet Mr and Mrs Brown a local locomotive engine driver and his wife. There is always something new to see with a regularly changing programme of special exhibitions, workshops, talks and events, plus Family Friendly activities, cafe, and gifts.

Meet Mr and Mrs Brown
Discover what life was like in Eastleigh during the 1930s and meet Mr and Mrs Brown, a local engine driver and his wife. Visit our recreation of their family home, a Victorian terraced house for which Eastleigh is well known. Displays include the living room at teatime and scullery.

Coffee Shop
Open Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 4.30pm and Saturdays, 10am to 3.30pm, serving morning coffee and afternoon tea, and locally produced ice cream.

The Story of Eastleigh
Eastleigh Museum was founded in 1986 and has collected many local history objects through which we tell our story.

  • HMS Asphodel Adoption Plaque
    During Warship Week 1941 the people of Eastleigh adopted the corvette H.M.S. Asphodel. She was sunk by a U-Boat on 9 March 1944 while on convoy duties.
  • Caustons Roll of Honour
    In Remembrance of the employees of Sir John Caustons and Sons of Brookwood Avenue, Eastleigh who gave their lives in the Second World War

Eastleigh’s Railway Past
There is a recreation of part of the Locomotive Erecting Workshop in Eastleigh’s Railway Works, with a locally made steam engine footplate too.
