School visits to Havant Museum

KS2 Our Town in The Past – Local History

Pupils will

  • Handle real historical objects
  • Examine and compare maps to see how the town has changed
  • Discover what photographs can reveal about the past
  • Investigate the museum building using visible features and historical documents (including census records) to find out about its history and the people who lived there

This session supports QCA History Unit 18 and National Curriculum KS 2 Local History Study. This two-hour hands-on session is led by a trained facilitator, and can be tailored to meet specific needs.

Our Town Pre-Visit
We recommend a pre-visit with the Education Officer to see and try out the activities in your session, discuss with staff how the session can be tailored for your class and to enable you to familiarise yourself with the building and its facilities. If you would prefer a telephone pre-visit, this can also be arranged. Please contact Emma Hart, Education Officer on 01329 824895 who will be happy to discuss this with you.
