Hampshire Museums Service

Workshops and family activities

We provide regular high quality workshops and activities at our museums. Most temporary exhibitions will have activities including workshops, holiday activities, interactive displays or evening lectures.

Many of our museums run holiday activities; either as a pre-booked or a ‘drop in’ sessions. There is a Young Archaeologists Club at Andover Museum and you can even have a children’s birthday party at Aldershot Military Museum.

All-day special workshops are held throughout the year, often run with experts from outside the Museums Service.  Topics covered have included biology, archaeology, industrial and social history, textiles, ceramics and art. Some are designed as introductory workshops, others provide a more in-depth treatment of a subject.

Please contact us if you have any ideas about suitable subjects for workshops that might interest you or that you might help us to deliver.

Many of our museums take part in national and local initiatives: these include National Archaeology Week, The Big Draw, Science and Engineering Week, Museums and Galleries Month and the Hampshire Water Festival.
