Dressed 2 Express

" "What is it about teenagers?
Why do they have to look different from the rest of us?

We've been working with young people from the Basingstoke area to chart the evolution of teenage style and explore how young people have been dressing to express themselves since the 1940s. If you're curious about Emos, Chavs, Goths and more, you can find out everything you need to know (and some things you don't) in this exhibition of images, clothing and accessories, past and present.

Tour dates: Willis Museum, Basingstoke 10 May to 21 June; Havant Museum 5 July to 16 August; Westbury Manor Museum, Fareham 6 September to 1 November; Eastleigh Museum 15 November to Christmas.

Cutting Edge

" "What is hair made from? What lives in it? What would you look like with a beard?
All this and more in this hands-on exploration of the history and science of human hair. Come face to face with a giant nit, investigate hair styles from history, discover what is hidden in our giant shampoo bottle, explore hair through play for the very young. Whether you’re in the downy first stages, have a full head of hair or are thinning on top – this exhibition is for you!

Tour dates: Allen Gallery 3 May to 16 August and Andover Museum from 23 August to Christmas 2008.

Tooth and Claw

Toouth and Claw photo of wolfLiving alongside Britain's predators
A visually stunning exhibition of photographs exploring our fascinating relationship with predators - past, present and future. It examines how our attitudes towards foxes, eagles and even wolves are affected by myth, culture and politics and encourages a better understanding of different viewpoints. Tooth and Claw also asks us searching questions, reminding us of our place in nature - as the most powerful predator of all.

Tour dates: Havant Museum 24 May - 21 June; Eastleigh Museum 3 May -14 June; Aldershot Military Museum 28 June - 16 August; Westbury Manor Museum, Fareham 5 July - 16 August; Willis Museum, Basingstoke 30 August - 11 October; Allen Gallery, Alton 8 November to Christmas closure 2008.

The exhibition team

We show over 52 exhibitions each year. These are a mixture of National touring exhibitions, exhibitions put together by us or created in partnership with other museums and artists.

We provide a varied programme for our galleries allowing the people of Hampshire to access the best touring exhibitions as well as creating exciting exhibitions using Hampshire’s own collection.
