Hands-on education centre for learning by discovery

SEARCH for Science

In SEARCH for Science, you and your group can investigate and learn about natural history through looking at museum collections.

A demonstrator leads your session and encourages learning by discovery, with activities designed to focus on a wide range of specimens including birds, mammals, reptiles, insects etc. There is plenty of opportunity for hands-on experience, and equipment such as lenses, microscopes and video-microscopes encourage visitors to feel like real scientists! Session themes actively support the National Curriculum.

Separate sessions have been designed for the different needs of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children and special needs groups.

A visit to SEARCH for Science includes a free teachers' pre-visit and the class visit itself with the lunchroom. At SEARCH, we have a system of evaluation aimed at improving and developing our service. Your comments on your experiences at SEARCH are therefore welcomed and form a vital part of this process.
