The Red House Museum and Gardens
A charming Georgian building, built as a workhouse in 1764, now filled with a rich variety of displays and objects which reflect the social and natural history of the area, its geology and archaeology.

The Herbert Druitt Costume Gallery - new display of dress charts the remarkable innovation and change in fashion from 1903 to 1939 - from the extravagance of Edwardian fashions and the restraint of the First World War, to stunning 1920s beaded “flapper” dresses and Art Deco inspired fabrics of the 1930s. Many items from local Druitt and Rivis collections.

The Bygones Gallery
Step into a bygone age and experience the charm and harsh reality of life in the workhouse when children worked from dawn to dusk making watch parts.New - Listen to or download the audio-tour of the workhouse.

Discover 'People, Place and Time' in the archaeology galleries. From fragments of flint and pottery to a Saxon burial.

Red House Gardens
Relax in the aromatic walled Herb Garden featuring collections of herbs and old-fashioned roses, and stroll through the woodland walk in the tranquil South Garden.
