Routes through the programme
There are various ways of working through this programme.
- You can work through the units in turn, preferably starting with Unit 1. Before doing this, you should consider the principles of using the materials as a full CPD programme. The section for class teachers in the Leadership guide provides an oversight of the way the programme works, and specific information about:
- the self-review process (evaluating your current practice) and Recognising impact (the essential aspects of teaching and learning that are addressed by each unit)
- the importance of Unit 1
- thematic routes through the programme
- the need for teachers to think creatively and take risks
- accreditation.
- You can take a broad aspect of teaching and learning (perhaps a school, departmental or personal target being developed through performance management), and find the most relevant unit that will address this aspect of your work. You can use Document LG1
55kb to identify the unit(s) that will best address broad themes; or Document LG2
94kb to identify specific sections of units that will adress detailed targets. - You can explore a detailed aspect of teaching and learning by searching for a specific issue (e.g. starters; differentation; planning units of work; AfL). This will lead you to one section within a unit which should be completed in depth to gain maximum benefit. You can then follow the links from that section, or search again for a new issue.
- You can use the FAQs to search for an issue that is a current concern for you. Many of the FAQs provide links to different areas of the site as part of their answer.
