Evaluation and next steps

From your study in this unit, you should now have a better understanding of:

• the generic principles of assessment for learning in the classroom and how feedback strategies based upon these principles can be applied to music;
• the characteristics of oral, aural and written feedback in music;
• the use of a variety of people to ensure that pupils understand how to improve their work.

To develop your practice further, you may wish to:

• use Activity Resource 5 to read about the major research findings regarding Assessment for Learning;
• explore further the supporting resources for this unit, including relevant effective practice materials and the archived version of Unit 6  552kb from the 2006 DVD.
• explore feedback in the wider context of assessment for learning by studying any of the generic Assessment for learning: whole school training materials (DCSF 1240-2005 GCD).
