Exploring good practice in oral and written feedback

You have already seen how Unit 4 from the Assessment for learning: whole school training materials (DCSF 1240-2005 GCD) focuses upon providing informative feedback to pupils to help them take the next steps in their learning.

Below are the links enabling you to download the files for both the Oral and Written feedback modules in the training unit. It should be remembered that both of these files were originally designed for use by trainers working with a group of teachers. However, they provide good details on the principles of feedback, and the activities can be usefully worked through on an individual basis to get a better understanding of feedback. You may also want to talk to your line manager about your own school’s expectations for the use of these principles, and any in-house training that has or will be delivered on the topic.
