There are thousands of people across the County who are good neighbours providing vital support within their local community. Hampshire County Council has recognised these people again this year at a special ceremony hosted by the Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber.

The Hampshire County Council Awards, now in their seventh year, recognise and reward volunteers and neighbours who support others in their communities. They acknowledge the contribution people make in enabling older people to remain living independently in their own homes. Among some of the acts of kindness celebrated including people providing transport to doctors appointments and lunch clubs, people who do gardening work or shopping for neighbours as well as those who are at the end of a telephone, day and night ready to help in emergencies.
