Hayling Island '32' Carshare

What is the Hayling Island '32' Carshare

The Hayling Island Carshare scheme has replaced the Northney Carshare and Call and Go scheme in Hayling Island.

You can book a taxi to Havant or Mengham from anywhere in Hayling Island if you fit the criteria for the service

(see the 'eligibility' tab).

 

Where can I travel to?

You can get dropped off at:

  • Havant Town Centre

  • Havant Tesco

  • Havant Health Centre

  • Havant Leisure Centre

  • Havant Hospital

  • Mengham (in or just off Elm Grove).

You will be picked you up and dropped you off at your home address.

 

Can anyone use this carshare?

You can use the Carshare if;

  • no buses travel at the time you need: or

  • to where you want to travel: or

  • you live a long way from the bus stop: or

  • you find it difficult getting on or off public buses: or

  • you are accompanying someone who fits the criteria.

 

When can I travel?

The Hayling Island Carshare is available Monday to Saturday and will run to a set timetable.

Arrival times in Havant: 09.25, 10:35, 11:35, 12:30, 13:40

Departure times from Havant: 09:25, 12:30, 13:40, 14:30, 16:00

You must travel at one of the timetabled times. If you travel at a time not on the timetable you must pay the full fare yourself.

You will be sent the timetable once you have registered.

 

What does it cost?

Fares on the Taxishare and Carshare schemes are around the same as the bus would've cost.

Hayling Island fares

South Hayling - Havant: single £1.70 return £3.00

North Hayling to Havant: single £1.40 return £2.50

South/North Hayling to Mengham: single £1.40 return £2.50

If you have a Hampshire County Council disabled person's bus pass you can travel free on this service.  If you have a Hampshire County Council older person's bus pass you can travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:00.  If you have a pass issued by any other English Local Authority you can travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:30.  In all cases show your pass to the Taxishare/Carshare driver each time you travel otherwise you will need to pay.

 

How do I book?

Before you can use the Hayling Island Carshare you need to register with Hampshire County Council by calling the number below.

Once registered how do I book my journey?

You ring and make a booking directly with the taxi company. You can book as far in advance as you like before you would like to travel, but you need to book by 9pm on the day before travel. You will be given the number for bookings when you register.
