What is the Southwick Taxishare?

It is a public transport service for anyone who needs to travel from Newtown, Hundred Acres, North Boarhunt or Southwick to Queen Alexandra Hospital or Cosham, also from Southwick, North Boarhunt, Hundred Acres, Newtown or Soberton Heath to Wickham.

The service is similar to a bus service, except that passengers will need to book in advance and the journey will be operated by a taxi instead of a bus.

Where can I travel to?

The Southwick Area 38 Taxishare operates to a timetable five days a week offering opportunities on two days to travel into Cosham/QA for passengers from Newtown, Hundred Acres, North Boarhunt and Southwick and three days into Wickham for passengers from Newtown, Soberton Heath, Hundred Acres, North Boarhunt and Southwick.

The Taxishare will pick you up from your local bus stop.

What does it cost?

Newtown, Hundred Acres, North Boarhunt to QA or Cosham £2.40 single £4 return.

Southwick to QA or Cosham £1.85 single £3.10 return.

Southwick to Wickham £2.40 single £4 return.

North Boarhunt to Wickham £1.85 single £3.10 return.

Newtown or Soberton Heath to Wickham £1.65 single £2.75 return.

Between any two villages £1.30 single £2.20 return.

If you have a Hampshire County Council disabled person's bus pass you may travel free on this service.  If you have a Hampshire County Council older person's bus pass you may travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:00.  If you have a pass issued by any other English Local Authority you may travel for free on any journey departing from your stop after 09:30.

Children between 5 and 16 years of age may travel for half price and those under 5 may travel free.

How do I book?

Firstly you must register with Hampshire County Council (this is free) by calling 01962 846786 (standard and local call rates apply to this number). You will then be sent a membership pack with the booking number to ring when you would like to travel.

To guarantee your journey you must book your seat by 4pm the day before you wish to travel. However, you can ring on the day you wish to travel to see if your journey can be accommodated.
