Car Schemes

Car schemes provide car transport on a voluntary basis with volunteers driving their own cars. These schemes provide one to one travel which responds to individual journey requests. Some schemes charge passengers on a mileage rate or zonal basis, whilst others ask for a donation.

Over 100 voluntary organisations provide a transport service whereby volunteers use their own cars to transport people around the country. These schemes provide over 100,000 passenger trips per annum. More information is available on the following:
