You pay your normal contribution rate on whatever pay you receive. If you are on less than your normal pay, or even not being paid, your membership still builds up as usual. So there is no effect on your pension benefits.

Additional contributions should continue to be paid as normal, as if you were still in receipt of full pay.
This applies to:
- Added years under the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
- Additional Regular Contributions (ARCs)
- Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)
- Additional Survivor Benefit Contributions (ASBCs)
