Fly Tipping
The process of depositing waste materials on public or private land without prior approval is known as fly tipping.
The removal of fly tipped material on any public land, including highway verges etc, is the responsibility of the local Borough or District Council. If you have seen any fly tipping which appears to be on public land please report it to the appropriate District/Borough Council for that location.
It is the land owners responsibility to arrange for the disposal of waste material which has been fly tipped on private land.
If you have observed individuals fly tipping please contact the Environment Agency. Fly tipping is illegal and the Agency is responsible for enforcing the law regarding waste disposal. The Environment Agency's emergency telephone number is 0800 807060.
