Planning Applications

The Council has responsibility for administering planning applications for mineral and waste developments (96 in 2004/05) and County Council developments, such as schools, libraries etc (94 in 2004/05). Details on these applications can be found elsewhere on this web site including how to submit an application and make representations on one.

The applicant has a right of appeal in cases where the County Council has refused planning permission or has not determined the application within 8 weeks of a valid application being received. The administration of planning appeals is the responsibility of the Planning Inspectorate.

The County Council has adopted standards of service for the administration of planning applications, including the need to consult other bodies, which are set out in a Development Control Charter.
