Appeals

If an application is refused by the County Council or the County Council does not determine an application within the statutory timescale, the applicant may appeal the decision to the Secretary of State. However, the appeal is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate, who administer the appeals process.

An appeal may be determined via three different methods: written representation, a hearing, or a public inquiry. For further information on the types of appeal please contact the Planning Inspectorate.

Appeals must be made in writing within six months of the date of the decision notice. The time taken to determine an appeal varies according to the type of appeal. Information on how to lodge an appeal and the current timescales for determination can also be found on the Planning Inspectorate's website.

All appeals relating to decisions of Hampshire County Council since 1998 (and some before) are available to view on this website, and may be searched online. The information is updated daily.
