Planning and Development

Make A Planning Application

How to Apply

A new, national planning form has come in from the 6 April 2008 for all application types, except Minerals development, necessitating a change in the way planning applications are made. There are two ways of applying:

Waste and County Council applications

1. Online - You can apply online via the Planning Portal, the national service for submitting planning applications electronically. You will need to register for free and then follow the instructions on how to fill out and submit an application. The accompanying documents and plans can be attached electronically or sent by post.

2. By post - You can download the appropriate planning application form below, print, fill in and send in by post, along with accompanying documents and plans.

Mineral applications

1. Online - You can apply online via our form below. The accompanying documents and plans can be attached electronically or sent by post. Please include certificates separately and bear in mind that you will have one hour to complete the online form before you are timed out for security reasons.

2. By post - You can download the appropriate planning application form, print, fill in and send in by post, along with accompanying documents and plans.

Fees

A planning application is not valid without a cheque to the full amount of the correct fee, therefore it is important that you calculate the fee prior to submitting your application. Planning fees are set by the Government through Regulations, which were last revised in April 2005. A copy of the Fees Regulations is available to read online. If you are in any doubt about the correct fee for your application then please contact us.

Guidance

  • Please refer to the Planning Portal guidance on how to apply.

  • The Local Requirements checklists describe the documents that need to be submitted with each application type.

  • There are various Document Types that may need to be submitted with an application.
