Planning and Development

The Role of the Regulatory Committee

The Regulatory Committee has full delegated authority to determine planning applications on behalf of the County Council. Non-controversial planning applications are dealt with by the Director of Environment under delegation arrangements set out in the Development Control Charter.

Agendas, which include reports on planning applications, for meetings of the Regulatory Committee are published a few days beforehand (the Monday before a Committee at the latest) and can be viewed through the date link below. Meetings are open to the public and anyone with an interest in an application may speak at a meeting, subject to prior arrangement. Decisions on planning applications are recorded in the minutes which are confirmed at the subsequent meeting.

The Regulatory Committee has also responsibility for Rights of Way and some miscellaneous functions as set out in the relevant part of the County Council's constitution.
