CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (HERBERT WALKER AVENUE & WEST QUAY ROAD)
Southampton City Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE THAT, in accordance with section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Council made the following Order on 20th August 2014.
1 The effect of the Order will be as follows:
a) To close Herbert Walker Avenue from its junction with West Quay Road Roundabout to its junction with Dock Gate 8 (from 26th August 2014 for 2 days).
b) To close Herbert Walker Avenue from its junction with West Quay Road Roundabout to its junction with Dock Gate 8 (from 1st September 2014 for 26 days).
c) To close West Quay Road (eastbound carriageway) from its junction with Harbour Parade (southern-most junction) to its junction with De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel entrance (from 3rd September 2014 and 24th September 2014 between 20:00 to 06:00 hours).
d) To create a temporary taxi rank on Herbert Walker Avenue (northeast side) from a point 45m northwest of West Quay Road north-westwards for a distance of 35m (from 11th September 2014 for 11 days).
2 The Order is required to allow the Southampton Boat Show to take place.
3 a), b) and d) have no alternative route. The alternative route for c) will be via Mountbatten Way, Western Esplanade, Civic Centre Road, Portland Terrace, Castle Way, West Street, High Street and Town Quay.
4 The Order comes into force on 26th August 2014. The Order will therefore cease to have effect on 29th September 2014 or on completion of the works, whichever is later.
