Speed Restrictions in East Hampshire

Highways – Temporary Speed Restrictions from Hampshire County Council in East Hampshire area.

TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTIONS – VARIOUS ROADS, EAST HAMPSHIRE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council has made an Order to impose reducing speed limits for safety reasons in connection with works on the highway, to be undertaken as follows:

EFFECTS OF ORDER:

  • To impose a speed restriction reducing from 70 mph to 60 mph, then 60 mph to 50 mph and then 50 mph to 30 mph on that length of A31 Alton By-Pass between its roundabout junction with A32 Gosport Road and its junction with Selborne Road.
  • To impose a speed restriction reducing from 60 mph to 50 mph, then 50 mph to 30 mph on that length of A31 Winchester Road (The Shrave) between the start of dual carriageway and its roundabout junction with A32 Gosport Road.

In conjunction with these speed reductions contra flows will be in place along the same stretches of road as above.

PERIOD OF RESTRICTION: From 7th May 2012 for a period of 12 months or until completion of the works whichever is sooner. (Notwithstanding the above it is expected that the restriction will be required for no longer than 7 days each).
