Housing - Fit for purpose
This theme is about ensuring that all of the areas residents are in suitable homes. Decent quality housing that people can afford is a universal need. It is a vital component in achieving a successful place and a good quality of life for people. No area can be deemed to be successful unless it is able to adequately house its communities both now and in the future.

Choice Based Letting |
![]() East Hampshire District Council along with Havant Borough Council and Winchester City Council successfully made a bid for funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government and also allocated their own resources to introduce a Choice Based Letting (CBL) scheme. The main thrust of CBL is to involve and empower the applicant to make more informed choices about where they live. Under CBL, properties are advertised using various methods, and applicants are able to “bid” or register their interest across the three authorities areas using a web based application. This very much places the applicant in control of the process and there is transparency about why properties have gone to applicants.
