Our ‘Olympic’ Glory at the Red House
A Special Exhibition celebrating our local connection with the Olympics
2 June – 28 July 2012
Do you know a local ex-Olympian sportsman or woman? Do you collect Olympic memorabilia? If so, the Red House Museum would like to hear from you. The Museum is looking for photos, memories and memorabilia from local people who may have competed or attended previous Olympic Games.
The Red House Museum is looking to local people to add their memories, memorabilia and photographs to the existing objects and stories that have been collected, including interviews with some of the sailing greats from the local area: Rodney Pattison and Pete Alum.
The museum is keen to include lives and experiences in the exhibition which will showcase Christchurch’s connection with the Olympics.
When it opens next year, the free exhibition will explore the lives of Olympic sportsmen and women who trained, lived or perhaps moved to the Christchurch area. It will be an opportunity to find out more about our sporting heroes.
If you have anything that you’d like to donate or a story you’d like to share, please contact the Museum tel 01202 482 860. All photographs will be scanned and returned and any items donated for the exhibition will be returned immediately after its closure on 28 July 2012.
