Did the death occur outside Hampshire?

If the death occurred anywhere else in England or Wales including the Portsmouth and Southampton area you will either need to:

• contact the relevant Register Office to make an appointment to register, or

• make a death declaration at one of the Hampshire Register Offices. The declaration will then be sent to the Register Office in the area where the death occurred and the death certificates, together with the authority allowing the funeral director to proceed with funeral arragements will be sent to you by post. Please remember however that such arrangements rely on many different organisations and services (postal services, part-time register offices, etc) and this will inevitably delay the arrangements you are making for the funeral.
