Care workers

We are recruiting for our Children’s residential homes

Children and young people in care are among the most vulnerable in the community and we regard their care as one of our most important responsibilities. We are looking for staff to help care for them.

The vast majority of children and young people in care are well looked after by foster parents in family homes, but there is a small minority whose needs are far better met being looked after in a safe and comfortable environment by dedicated professional staff, with the right level of expertise, personality and commitment to caring.

Based in the community, our residential service is designed to improve children and young people’s life chances and outcomes by enabling them to rebuild relationships with their families and/or to achieve a stable living situation.

The qualities we are looking for

Managers

If you have…

  • a Level 5 diploma in Residential Childcare or the equivalent or have what it takes to achieve this qualification within 2 years of employment

  • experience in a position relevant to the residential care of children and in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role

  • considerable experience of forming positive relationships that support children to make progress and enjoy positive experiences along with supporting children who have experienced traumatic childhoods

  • extensive experience relevant to supporting a staff team to understand and meet the development and safeguarding needs of children in residential care

  • a proven ability to problem solve, plan and organise staffing, delegate work, manage workloads, support staff development and manage change

  • the ability to promote effective team working in own home and within the wider service

  • the ability to effectively manage the home; excellent financial management skills and experience of working with partner agencies, in a complex multi-agency environment.

Residential Care Workers

If you…

  • have a Level 3 diploma in Residential Childcare or have what it takes to achieve this qualification within 2 years of employment

  • are passionate about working with children and young people who have experienced the most traumatic of childhoods

  • are able to engage with children and young people who struggle to trust adults or make positive attachments

  • are able to respond to challenging behaviours

  • are emotionally intelligent and resilient

  • are physically fit enough to be able to participate in all aspects of Team Teach and Team Teach training, including physical interventions

  • are literate, numerate and have good communication skills.
