Co-ordination of Road-works and Events Affecting the Highway
We are well-aware and understand that road-works cause disruption to users of the highway. Unfortunately, road-works cannot be undertaken efficiently without causing some inconvenience. We have a duty to minimise disruption to highway users by co-ordinating all road-works and events affecting the highway. In addition to our own road-works this includes road-works carried-out by other statutory bodies such as utility companies, as well as events that might require traffic restrictions or temporary road closures. Where we anticipate planned works or events could cause significant inconvenience to highway users, their timing is planned sensitively where possible, in consultation with local representatives and the traffic police.
