Hampshire's School Crossing Patrol of the Year 2010

It's always nice to be appreciated and recognised for the job you do, and getting children safely across busy roads is no exception.
That's why the County Council's Road Safety Team recently celebrated Hampshire's top

School Crossing Patrol, sponsored by the Basingstoke design and web agency The Escape.
Competition

The Road Safety Team received hundreds of nominations from parents, school children and teachers who have been trying to get their favourite lollipop person crowned Hampshire's School Crossing Patrol of the Year for 2010.
Finalists were chosen from each of the 11 districts, from which the overall winner was selected by Councillor Pat West, Chairman of the Road Safety Councils in Hampshire.
All finalists and their nominators, were invited to attend the awards ceremony which was held on Wednesday, 23 June at the Discovery Centre in Winchester, where the district presentations were made, and the overall winner announced.
Each finalist received a prize, certificate and trophy, and the School Crossing Patrol of the Year was presented with £500 worth of John Lewis vouchers.
Bob Jackson, Havant and Hampshire’s School Crossing Patrol 2010
Havant’s Bob Jackson was announced as Hampshire’s favourite lollipop person for 2010 after being voted the overall winner in the County Council’s competition.

Bob, who lives in Bedhampton and patrols for Barncroft Junior School in Leigh Park, secured his place in the Final with a nomination and drawing from Katie Stewart, age 9.
Katie told judges:
“Bob is good because he tells you when to cross politely to you. He is kind and helps you to cross the road.”
