Commercial (business) waste disposal
Businesses and commercial organisations are responsible for arranging proper disposal of their waste under Defra's Duty of Care document.
At present, the law states local authorities are not legally responsible for the collection and/or disposal of commercial waste. However, a few district authorities do offer a chargeable business waste collection, so you should contact your local council to find out what service (if any) they offer.
Alternatively, there are many firms and organisations in Hampshire and the surrounding area which will collect and recycle materials that are no longer needed by firms and businesses. A list of materials and companies to contact can be found on this website, and is also available in leaflet form from HWRCs and information centres. Another list appears on the Project Integra website. Please note that none of the companies listed are endorsed by either Hampshire County Council or Project Integra, but are listed as a helpful guide to some of the available options.
Anyone carrying waste for profit must be authorised to carry the waste and hold a valid waste carrier licence. To find out more, or to apply for a waste carrier licence, call the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506 or visit: www.environment-agency.gov.uk.
Please also note that commercial, industrial or trade waste is not permitted at Household Waste Recycling Centres.
