Property Services

Providing the education sector with ‘onestop’ arrangements and a comprehensive package of ‘buy-back’ services comprising revenue repair and maintenance work, together with capital maintenance programmes.

The service gives access to associated professional support and carefully selected and vetted contractors.

We supply the following services to schools:

  • revenue repairs and maintenance services;

  • cyclical property activities, including servicing routines, testing and inspection;

  • capital repairs, strategic asset management and advocacy;

  • design and specialist services, including external redecoration;

  • grounds and tree management;

  • temporary buildings support;

  • emergency ‘out of hours’ support for repairs and maintenance through our helpdesk;

  • health and safety support, including asbestos management, and fire and safety advice;

  • Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) support;

  • management partnership and direct customer liaison;

  • access to a wide range of property and design services.

 
  • Nominated named surveyor for each school or academy.

SLA funding from April 2013

With the Funding Reform of Schools fair funding no longer exists. The SLA funding will still need to be covered by the schools revenue budget but calculated on rates based on per pupil and floor area. However the 10% reduction in SLA charges, which was introduced in April 2012, remains and will apply to the SLA charges post April 2013

A further change resulting from the Funding Reform of Schools is the delegation of the CERA budget.

For buy back schools, the CERA delegated budget is equivalent to £27.51 per pupil.  The overall revised charges are set out in the table below:

The balance of the CERA budget is to be held centrally.

 

The Customer Services Team provide a helpdesk for customers, and also monitor correspondence and key performance indicators.

Customer feedback is used to improve and develop this service, in line with the Quality Assurance Framework for Services for Schools.

Mechanisms for collecting the views of customers include the annual satisfaction survey and complaints, compliments and comments.
