We support and enable schools, with their communities, to increase and sustain the proportion of active, healthy and sustainable journeys to and from school and to reduce their carbon footprint and levels of obesity, through a range of resources and advice.

    • Access to NEW online travel planning tool, STARS (School Travel Accreditation Recognition Scheme), to update and maintain travel plans

    • STARS links to national accreditation scheme

    • STARS training

    • Support with school travel plans required as part of the planning system applications and conditions

    • Scooter training

    • Walking Bus advice and training

    • Engineering advice e.g. on school gate congestion issues

    • Postcode mapping and other related mapping

    • Support with setting up initiatives e.g. Park and Stride

    • Support with identifying and bidding for funding for physical measures, such as new cycle shelters and crossing points

    • Through our strong links with key partners such as district councils, transport and Children’s Services departments, support with the implementation of your travel plan measures

    • Campaign and curriculum materials that will support your travel plan objectives, and link with OFSTED and Healthy Schools requirements. E.g. such as incentives and prizes for pupils, Parking Promise publicity materials and online curriculum resources

    • Direct your school to the services provided by the Road Safety team

    • Improve the health and wellbeing of pupils, parents and staff. Assists with implementing recommendations from ‘Start Active, Stay Active’
