Cycling

Thinking of cycling, or want to take your cycling to the next level? Maybe you fancy commuting, a new challenge, or just want some fresh air and to meet people? Perhaps you want to learn new skills, take the family on a day out, or have decided you’re ready to inspire others. Whatever it is, cycling’s got a range of benefits, and there’s a range of information and opportunity available to you.

You can find a wealth of information for cycling in all its forms and for all ages through British Cycling.

  • Not sure where to start? Browse through some options about how to get involved in cycling

  • Use the Event finder to find organised challenge and leisure rides, informal rides, rides and fun training for young people, and races and City Centre events to take part in or watch

  • Find a club in your area, and see what they offer or how you can get involved

  • Find out how you can train as a coach, ride leader, or instructor

  • Browse through a wealth of knowledge from how to lube a chain to how to improve your hill climbing in the Insight Zone

Ladies get back on their bikes!

Ladies… Are you looking for a social group or someone to ride with, want to find new routes, gain experience of riding on the road, improve your cycling? Do you need some motivation? From Easygoing to Challenging, there are a range of rides designed specifically for you and already available in and around the Hampshire area as part of British Cycling’s Breeze Network.

Breeze rides are free, women-only cycle rides led by qualified ride leaders.

Use the ‘Find a ride’ feature on the Breeze website to see what is on offer near you and to sign up for free. You can also find out more by following the Facebook pages for Andover, Basingstoke, New Forest, Romsey, Rushmoor, Solent, Southampton and Eastleigh, and Winchester.

If you are interested in training to become a Breeze Leader to help the network grow or if you'd like more information on the above, please contact Ruth Crawford.
