The local leader and child who has achieved the most through sport, will both win prizes donated by title sponsor, Alexandra Sports worth £250 each.
Ruth Dancer, one of the founders of FitBeat, was the Venue Manager at the Eton Dorney Olympic and Paralympic venue, where Team GM romped to victory in the Olympic Rowing and Canoe Sprint and Paralympic Rowing at London 2012.
Talking about the local leader, she said, "It is so important to recognise people who give up their time, often evenings and weekends, to help local people to learn how to play a new sport and even excel at it. To me, they are the people at the grass roots level, who inspire children to become the kinds of incredible athletes we saw in 2012."
Co-founder, George "Topsy" Turner owns local fitness company, Innovations Fitness, following his retirement from the Royal Navy where he served as a Physical Training Instructor for 20 years. About the children's award he said "Fitness for me is all about having fun, pushing yourself and in many cases, gaining in confidence. I firmly believe that sport is crucial for children of all ages and abilities, and I want to see more children be recognised for their efforts. Whether that child has been an outstanding sportsman, used sport to rehabilitate following an accident or illness, or even overcome shyness to become a brilliant team player, I want to hear about them and give them a moment to shine on our stage."
