Hampshire School Games: Teachers Manual 2016 (Edition 2)

Up-and-coming young sports stars from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight will line up in their own sporting competitions Thursday 30 June 2016

Over 2000 young people will compete in the Hampshire School Games, across a range of sports including Athletics, Basketball, Boccia, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, New Age Kurling, Panathlon, Rounders, Swimming, Tag Rugy, Tennis, Tri-Golf, Volleyball, at the Military facilities in Aldershot.

The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. The Games are designed to buid on the magic of London 2012 to enable every school and child to particpate in competitve sport, including meaningful opportunities for disabled youngsters.

All the young people at the Games will have won through area rounds to represent their school/area at the Hampshire Games in June, if your school is interested in trying to qualify for the games this year please contact your local SGO.

The Games is backed by National Lottery funding through Sport England. It is fully inclusive and increases the opportunities for young people to take part in sport throughout the year, offering some young people their first taste of country-wide competition.

The School Games is supported by a range of partners including the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Youth Sport Trust, Department of Health, Department for Education and is backed by National Lottery funding through Sport England.

Over £128m of Lottery and Government funding is being invested to support the School Games.
