Gold medal for Dani King

Congratulations to cyclist Dani King for her gold medal in the Team Pursuit.

Dani, a member of the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS), cycled her way to success in the Velodrome. Not only did she get a gold medal but as a team they broke the world record for the sixth successive time to get to the final.

Speaking about her Olympic success Dani said,

'I still have to pinch myself when I think about our world record and Gold medal. Whenever I put my Great Britain racing suit on I feel so proud but wearing it for the Olympic games made it extra special. The experience in the velodrome and atmosphere was fantastic.'

'I feel so privileged to compete for Great Britain and have so many people to thank including Sport Hampshire & IOW for supporting me on my journey. Without the support I've had it wouldn't have been possible to have made it to London 2012. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole Olympic experience and it wont be long before I'm back in training for the next four year cycle.'
