Sports Awards Winners

Another great year of nominations with over two hundred being sent in ranging from athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, teams and clubs were put forward to receive an award. Making an exciting but dificult decision for our panel of judges.

The Awards presentation was opened with a welcome from Councillor Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council and Kris Temple of BBC South Today presented the awards.

Speaking at the event, Cllr Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council commented, "Tonight has been achance to recognise and reward local people’s dedication to sport and celebrate their achievements. It is especially rewarding to recognise our shortlisted nominees and winners in the year when the Olympic and Paralympic Games come to London. With so much commitment, inspiration and excellence within the sporting community in our county, I hope everyone will continue to inspire and develop new talent for the future and provide enjoyment for many more."

Masters Sportsperson Winner Petra Piears and Nominee Jon Tilt

Speaking at the event, Councillor Keith Chapman commented, “Tonight has been a fantastic celebration of sport throughout our county.

The shortlisted nominees and winners reflect not only the quality of local sporting talent and achievement, but also the incredible dedication and commitment of the many unsung heroes – the coaches, volunteers and officials who together make Hampshire and the Isle of Wight such a great county to participate in and enjoy sport.”
