Aaron competes for Team GB and Cardiff Pirates. He has recently been selected for the Team GB to compete at the London 2012 Paralympics.

SHIOW: How does it feel to be selected for the London 2012 Paralympics?

AP: I'm so ecstatic and honoured to have been selected to play wheelchair rugby for team GB in the Paralympics. It is such a privilege. Training now continues as normal with Southampton Solent University but we are now just fine tuning all the hard work that has gone in over the last 3 years. I was visiting a Primary School to do a talk when I got the news but I was unable to tell anyone at that time.

SHIOW: Describe your favourite sporting moment to date

AP: Playing in the GB Cup last year to a home crowd and coming 2nd, then going on to win a silver medal at the European Championships.

SHIOW: What are your top tips for aspiring young athletes?

AP: Ensure you always training to your maximum and look for outside help to ensure that you are working to your full potential. Also knowing when not to train is just as important as knowing when to train.

SHIOW: What one piece of kit or equipment could you not live without?

AP: My head band - it has become a bit of a joke amongst the team but I would be lost without it.

SHIOW: And who is your sporting hero

AP: David Weir, the best UK wheelchair racer

SHIOW: Who has most influenced your success

AP: My wife Vicky, she is always really supportive on and off the court. My head coach Tom O'Connor, My Dad always helped me train and with equipment and Prof Stewart Bruce Lowe from Southampton Solent University has also been a great support with training.

SHIOW: Describe what it will mean to you when you wear the GB kit in London?

AP: It will be absolutely unbelievable, the 12,000 seater stadium is sold out for every game!

SHIOW: How has the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme helped you with your sport?

AP: Free gym access means I can train when I need to not just when I can afford it.

SHIOW: Describe yourself in ten words...

AP: Determined, logical, spontaneous, sensitive, fun, generous, lively, enthusiastic, approachable, driven.
