Hannah Snellgrove - Sailing

SHIOW: What are your most notable achievements to date?

HS - 11th in Sail for Gold World Cup Event 2011, 14th in the ISAF Sailing World Championships 2011

SHIOW: Tell us about your most notable recent achievements?

HS - In December I was placed 14th overall and 2nd British boat in the ISAF Sailing World Championships in Perth, Australia. I was then selected for the Marlow Ropes Award which recognises a standout performance from a GBR development sailor, which was really cool!

SHIOW: What targets have you set yourself for 2012?

HS - To gain the most experience I possibly can from my continued involvement with the 2012 trials, whilst also studying for my Cambridge degree.

SHIOW: What are your targets for next 3 years

HS: To complete my degree in 2013 and commence a full time sailing campaign for the 2016 Games.

SHIOW: What is the biggest challenge you have faced to date?

HS - Getting back into sailing after being seriously ill with the Epstein Barr virus/M.E. from 2006-2008.

SHIOW: What is your favourite sporting moment?

HS - For me it was winning a race in Gold Fleet at the Worlds in December.

SHIOW: What are your top tips for aspiring athletes?

HS - Enjoy it all!

SHIOW: What one piece of kit, equipment or food / drink could you not live without?

HS - My boat! And definitely my chocolate and peanut flavour protein chocolate, only healthy...great!

SHIOW: Who is your sporting hero?

HS - Jane Tomlinson

SHIOW - Who has most influenced your success?

HS - My parents with all the support they have given me and my coach Ben Paton for believing in me and only shouting when necessary!

SHIOW: And finally, if you have to described yourself in 10 words, what would they be?

HS - Sailing, geology, library, lab, gym, eat, run, eat, gym, sleep!
